I feel like I should probably just copy and paste a paragraph on how amazing Timeless is every week because I honestly feel like a broken record. Just like the past seven episodes, Timeless once again hit it right out of the park in an episode that hit us through the heart and killed us with too many emotions.
Every year, early May is a stressful time for TV fans. If your favorite show ended up on the bubble, this is the time when the anxiety sets in. You’re waiting on pins and needles to hear if your show has been renewed and will live on to see another season.
This year, there are a lot of series on the bubble. Some deserve to be there after a shitty season, but some of them still have us scratching our heads in confusion as to how they ended up there at all — yes, we’re talking about Timeless.
So, we gathered a few writers and TV fans to discuss which shows deserve to die a painful death and which ones absolutely need another season, lest we be the ones who might die of a broken heart.
I probably sound like a broken record, but Timeless really does get better and better each week. Tonight’s episode in particular was a fantastic example about everything that makes this show work. The beat of the episode was outstanding; the writing, the performance, everything was absolutely incredible and I can’t understand why NBC hasn’t renewed this show yet.
I know, Lyatt fans. I panicked too, you’re not alone. When the episode ended, my first reaction was a big fat “NO. THEY DID NOT DO THAT. THEY DIDN’T. NO.” Fangirlish’s Lizzie (@lizziethat) and I spent the next couple of hours after we watched the screener talking in circles about why they would do that; why would they suddenly set up Lucy and Flynn when this entire season has been about Lyatt?
Lucy Preston is too good and pure for this world. That’s all I have to say about this episode.
It’s okay, Clockblockers. Just cry it out. I’d love to say that I promise it’ll be okay, but all I’ve got for tonight is that I trust these writers and they haven’t steered us wrong before, right? So even though it’s hard to watch our Wyatt being an idiot and Lucy getting all kinds of hurt, we should have faith that it’ll all work out in the end.
In an episode that brought a horrible, horrible part of history to life, we got to see Flynn joining the Time Team while Wyatt tried to sort out his very confusing and overwhelming emotions after he found out that Jessica is not so dead anymore. Meanwhile, our Lucy just became the universe’s punching bag and I just want to give her a hug, put her in a bubble and protect her from this cruel world.
Timeless is the kind of show that sneaks up on you. When season 1 first started, I had already heard about how amazing the pilot was from a few friends who had already screened the episode, so I knew I was in for a treat. But I had no idea how incredible this journey I was embarking on was going to be — that this show would be this wonderful miracle that it is.
