I probably sound like a broken record, but Timeless really does get better and better each week. Tonight’s episode in particular was a fantastic example about everything that makes this show work. The beat of the episode was outstanding; the writing, the performance, everything was absolutely incredible and I can’t understand why NBC hasn’t renewed this show yet.
That was so worth the wait, wasn’t it? I know I usually do a “Top 5 Moments” post, but there is just so much to discuss that we’re going to have to go the traditional review way this time around. The hype surrounding “Hollywoodland” was gigantic, and I am sure that every Timeless fan had their expectations through the roof for this one. That said, I am pretty sure tonight’s episode more than surpassed everyone’s expectations, despite that horrific twist of a cliffhanger in the end.
Timeless is that kind of show that seems to work regardless of what story they are telling. While last week’s season 2 premiere was very intense and emotional, tonight’s “The Darlington 500” was the exact opposite. It was fun, it was light, it was funny, but it still managed to move the plot forward, while showing us more of one of the main characters’ past.
Because here’s the thing: there’s no such thing as a filler episode on Timeless. Every second matters and each and every episode counts as essential to tell these characters’ story.
After a rollercoaster of a hiatus, Timeless officially returned tonight. The NBC hit show made history after getting cancelled — in a move that nobody fully understands to this day — only to be resurrected three days later. As one of the smartest, most well-developed shows on air today, the mystery of why NBC decided to cancel Timeless back in early 2017 still remains.
But who cares about that now, right? Our favorite show is back tonight, and it’s better than ever. And I have to say, guys, having watched the first four episodes of season 2 already, you have no idea how mindblowing this season is going to be. If you thought season 1 was good, you’ll be happy to know that season 2 blows it out of the water and surpasses any expectations.
That said, let’s talk about tonight’s premiere “The War to End All Wars”, shall we?
