Game of Thrones Roundtable: Character Assassination Edition

After eight seasons, three dragons, and countless candidates to take the Iron Throne, Game of Thrones is officially over. But not without more than its fair share of murders. And no, we’re not talking about actual, physical deaths (of which there were plenty); we’re talking about outright character assassination. In the series’ eight season, Game of Thrones proved that no character development was important enough to go unpunished; so, the team here at Writes of the Roundtable got together to vent discuss all of the most outrageous character assassinations.

Because Game of Thrones season 8 was too upsetting for just our staff alone, we were joined by Ashley Thomas, “The Nerdy Blogger.” From her bio on Fangirlish:

She holds a B. A. in English Literature from Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee (c/o 2007) and a M. A. at Signum University in Literature and Language, concentrating in Imaginative Literature (c/o 2018). She would like to be Brienne of Tarth, Leslie Knope, and Hermione Granger when she grows up.

And now, without further ado, our Game of Thrones roundtable! Spoiler alert: It was a bloodbath.

Timeless Movie Roundtable: Saving Rufus, Lyatt and a Happy Ending

The moment we were waiting for has come and gone, Clockblockers. The Timeless movie aired on December 20, and gave us one of the most precious Christmas gifts we could have all asked for. Rufus was saved, Flynn turned out to be an amazing hero and Lyatt not only worked things out, but had a beautiful, beautiful happy ending. And don’t even get me started on Jiya, who always worked in the shadows of Mason Industries, and now is front and center in her own company with Rufus.

I had a lot to say about this epic finale in my review, so now I’m just sitting back and letting my fellow writers and Timeless fans discuss and fangirl over this fantastic show.

So sit tight, relax and join us as we dissect the ins and outs of the Timeless movie: “The Miracle of Christmas”.

Try It Or Trash It Roundtable: The Rookie

Whenever a new series is announced, it’s always difficult to decide whether or not to fit it into our increasingly busy schedules. One of ABC’s latest dramas, The Rookie, was on some of our watch lists. According to the network

Starting over isn’t easy, especially for small-town guy John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) who, after a life-altering incident, is pursuing his dream of being a Los Angeles police officer. As the force’s oldest rookie, he’s met with skepticism from some higher-ups who see him as just a walking midlife crisis. If he can’t keep up with the young cops and the criminals, he’ll be risking lives including his own. But if he can use his life experience, determination and sense of humor to give him an edge, he may just become a success in this new chapter of his life.

So, should you try it or trash it? Check out what the Writes of the Roundtable had to say below the cut!

Charmed Roundtable: The Original Vs The Reboot

Last week marked the 20th anniversary of the OG Charmed debut. And with the reboot premiering tonight, it made us stop and think about what the original show meant to an entire generation of fans, and what having a reboot made now means to us. A lot of us here at Writes of the Roundtable were huge fans of the original show and grew up watching the Halliwell sisters kick some serious demon ass.

The whole debacle that has ensued since it was announced they were making a new Charmed has really affected us, so we just had to sit down and talk about it. So sit back, relax and come discuss all things Charmed with us.

Summer TV Roundtable: Hiatus? What Hiatus?

Kids these days don’t know how good they have it: Rather than spending all summer watching reruns and wishing for new content, they now get to leap from one series’ hiatus to another’s premiere. With so many ways to watch television, there’s never such thing as downtime; and while it sometimes gets overwhelming, it’s much more preferable than the old way of doing things. So, with most of our favorite “regular season” shows either on hiatus or soon to be there, if you’re actually wondering what to watch next, check out our humble suggestions.
