DCTV Crossover Crisis on Earth-X trailer

DCTV Crossover Roundtable: Nazis, Really?

This evening, the annual Arrow-verse crossover commences. The four shows involved, Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow, are combining across two back-to-back nights this year, to create a more seamless, cohesive television event (one would assume). Among the action and romance, this year’s crossover promises something new: Nazis. Here, we discuss our thoughts on the DCTV crossover, the inclusion of Nazis, and what that means for our viewing choices.

SHIP WARS: Supergirl’s Karamel Edition

Time to deconstruct another OTP…or NOTP, as it were. Our first Ship Wars roundtable featured Once Upon a Time‘s Captain Swan; this time, we’re taking a look at Supergirl‘s Karamel. As is often the case when we start discussing controversial ships, our team is split. While we can all agree that Mon-El has some problems, our takes on whether they’ve been addressed well enough to make him good enough for Kara are, well, agreement isn’t a thing here.

So, let’s jump right in and try to figure out what everyone thinks about Karamel, Mon-El himself, Supercorp, and whether or not Supergirl has even given us any better options.

Will & Grace Roundtable: A Must-See Reboot

Will & Grace is the latest in a long line of rebooted fan favorites. But can the newly-returned series live up to its own reputation? Our staff took some time out from our regular television schedules to catch the Will & Grace premiere and share our thoughts. From the looks of it, we’re all in agreement: the series is still an epic win.

#TakeAKnee & Other Celebrity Activism: The Good, The Bad & Our Ruined Childhoods

Colin Kaepernick started taking a knee during the National Anthem long before 45 made disrespectful comments about him and any players who supported his choice. But as soon as the Cheeto-in-Chief opened his mouth, plenty of people who might have otherwise ignored what Kaepernick was doing started to talk. The #TakeAKnee hashtag started blowing up on twitter, and even some celebrities got in on the discussion.

But what does celebrity activism mean in this case? And how do we feel about celebrity activism in general? Our staff sat down to share our views on the subject and have an open, honest discussion about taking a knee, celebrity voices, and more.

SHIP WARS: Once Upon A Time’s Captain Swan

OTP: one true pairing. Canon/not canon. Shipping…Spend time around any fandom and you’ll find a ship or two that is questioned: Which character is best for the lead? Where is the great love story in this show? That character is totally wrong for her/him. Etc. Watch any series; and chances are, you’ll find some sort of love triangle or ship war happening.

Once Upon a Time is no stranger to this. With such a large cast, multiple ships have formed. Some overlap; some are known as a don’t-touch-this-its-perfect ship, like Snow White and Prince Charming.

Snow and David had it easy. They were each other’s true love; and, as everyone seemed to agree, that was not something debatable. For other characters, it’s not nearly as easy.

Emma Swan is one such character. She’s seen her fair share of love interests throughout the series. Emma has interacted with almost everyone on the show, and some chemistry that might not have been written into Once Upon a Time has been felt by fans. By the end of the series, The Powers That Be made it clear that Emma was to end up with Captain Hook. This left half of the fans ecstatic…and the other half vomiting.

Captain Swan has been fought over for years. Our own staff is split on whether this relationship was the best for Emma or not! So, without further ado, let’s discuss.

Our staff binge watched Lucifer on our summer hiatus.

What We Binge Watched On Our Summer Hiatus

Just like when our teachers used to make us write about our summer vacations for the first day of school, we’re ready to fill our readers in on what we binge watched on our summer hiatus.

Once upon a time, summer hiatus was a death sentence. There was basically nothing on television, so the best you could hope for was a rewatch of your favorite show — in totally out-of-sequence reruns — or a chance to dig through the available rentals at Blockbuster. These days, we have Netflix and Hulu, dvr and full seasons of our favorite series to keep us company. And that’s between all mid-season and summer series that keep summer hiatus from really being a hiatus at all.

Summer hiatus is definitely the best time to binge watch a new series or relive our favorite moments from an old one, though, so read on to see some of our top picks.
