Showrunners Adam Horowitz and Eddie Kitsis announced that Once Upon a Time will be bidding farewell at the end of this season. ABC is pulling the plug on the veteran drama at the end of its seventh season.
Following an insane game, leading to an Eagles win — Fly Eagles Fly! — the moment we’ve waited for since This Is Us season one was finally here. How did Jack die? They had been dropping hints, the fire alarm, the crockpot, the crazy fire that was to burn down the house…Was the answer satisfying enough, or was it a little too predictable?
Jack Pearson’s presence on This Is Us has been vital from the get-go. He’s easily the husband/father of the year and a legend of sorts. The Pearson kids have lived with his memory for more than half their lives; and his death was a turning point for them, which has shaped who they are today.
The moment everyone has been waiting for is just around the corner. After the Superbowl — fitting seeing as how big the game is for the Pearsons — an all-new episode of This Is Us will air. The episode — the one where we will finally find out if all the clues were literal or subterfuge. How did Jack die? The question will finally be answered.
Until then, let’s discuss what might happen.
Series original Lana Parrilla will be taking a step behind the camera to direct an episode during the seventh season of Once Upon a Time.
This is a tricky one. On one hand, this season of Once Upon a Time is actually ten times better than the series has been for the last few years. On the other hand, you got rid of 66% of the beloved cast, and there are people that are very upset. That being said, the ratings are in the toilet. Can Once Upon a Time recover from this? I don’t know. I’ve seen it done before. Sometimes, fan favorites, regardless of how crappy their numbers are, get the renewal anyway. This will come down to if ABC really wants to invest. Of course, with the graveyard slot it, seems like the network’s faith in the fairytale drama is fading.
The two-episode sign-off before the three-week hiatus featured yet another male character being raped without so much as an utterance of the assault. This lack of sensitivity that Once Upon a Time has shown — multiple times — is majorly problematic, especially since a huge part of the fanbase is made up of children.
This Is Us kicked off its three-episode homage to the Big Three with the first born, Kevin Pearson. “Number One” explored how he grew up and became the man he is today.
