Heroes and Villains Fan Fest San Jose 2017: OTA Panel

I had the chance to attend this year’s edition of Heroes and Villains Fan Fest in San Jose, California this past weekend, and I had the best time. It was my first HVFF, and it was vastly different experience than going to SDCC.

For one, HVFF is a con with a much more personal feel to it. The fans have a chance to really interact with their idols, and watching it first hand was a great experience. There were many actors to see and talk to, but my personal experience was only with Original Team Arrow, as I had a very excited 12-year-old with me, whose dream was to meet them.

So, the only panel I actually attended was the OTA one — still sad I didn’t get to see John Barrowman’s — and it was definitely worth it. While we didn’t get any new tidbits or spoilers about what’s ahead for Team Arrow in Season 6, we did get a lot of cool stories out of Stephen Amell, Emily Bett Rickards and David Ramsey.

The panel started with the trio helping a young girl cut off her hair so she could donate it to make wigs for kids fighting cancer. Each of the actors cut off a braid, and it was such a beautiful gesture from someone so young that it resonated with the entire audience.

One of the highlights included a fan’s question about what kind of superhero would be able to help those who struggle with addiction, and Ramsey had a beautiful answer to that.

The hour passed by way too quickly, but we got stories about scars, anecdotes about set life and how Emily does not understand why Felicity has to wear heels during scenes at the loft or Oliver’s place. I am so with you there, girl.
